2015 curriculum features 2 courses

Course 1:

  • Hollywood Idol   analyzes how the culture of Hollywood subliminally influences our society. From dystopian societies in which evil governments force inhabitants into districts, to heroic romances between defiant teen heroes fighting for their freedom, students will discover how every movie—every story—is inherently a message and commentary on life. They will be challenged to consider and think deeply about these messages, whether they really agree with them, and how these values compare with those of our tradition.

COURSE 2:

Complicated Me studies Judaism’s spiritual insights into the anatomy of the human soul and psyche. Every lesson examines scientific studies in various areas of psychology and illuminates them within the framework of the Torah’s mystical teachings. Teens will discover how to connect these lessons to their interpersonal relationships and to the way we relate to G‑d: How well do you know yourself? Do you know why you think the way you think? Teens will discuss, debate and explore what makes us happy, successful, better at relationships and more. These lessons will provide students with a soul-map to deal with the inner challenges that we encounter on a daily basis.
